A CALL FOR PRESIDENTIAL ACTION AGAINST CRIME
We, at Vision Tactical, witness the devastating impact of crime on a daily basis. Our teams are on the front lines, protecting businesses, homes, and individuals from the constant threat of criminal activity. We see the fear and anxiety that permeates our communities, and we are deeply concerned about the long-term implications of unchecked crime.
The 2024 State of the Nation Address (SONA), scheduled for Thursday, February 8th at 7:00 PM, presents a crucial opportunity for the President to address the pressing issues impacting the lives of everyone.
The President has to address the issue of crime in his state of the nation address and we hope that he will outline a comprehensive plan to tackle this pressing issue. We humbly call on him to acknowledge the severity of the situation and to demonstrate a clear commitment to addressing some of the causes of crime in our country.
It is not enough to simply acknowledge the problem; concrete action is required. We urge the President to prioritise the allocation of resources towards crime prevention and law enforcement. This could involve increasing police visibility, investing in crime-fighting technologies, and implementing effective crime prevention strategies.
The President must address the issue of corruption within law enforcement agencies and ensure that measures are in place to hold those responsible for criminal activities accountable. We are seeing how corruption undermines the effectiveness of our security forces and erodes public trust in our institutions.
We appeal to the President to engage with the private security sector and work to build strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies and security companies. Collaboration and communication are essential in the fight against crime, and the President can play a crucial role in fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility in addressing this issue.
The “Eyes & Ears Initiative” has achieved significant accomplishments, underscoring the importance of collaborations between law enforcement agencies and the private security sector. Similarly, Operation Shanela serves as a powerful example of these partnerships acting as effective force multipliers in combating crime.
In his state of the nation address, the President has an opportunity to mobilise the nation towards a common goal of creating safer country for all. It is imperative that he seizes this opportunity and presents a comprehensive plan of action to address the scourge of crime in our country.
