SUCCESS REPORT:
On February 13, 2024, members were informed a kidnapping and subsequent murder of 61-year-old Mr. Tinus Van Lingan, who was declared missing on February 12, 2024. Members later confirmed that Mr. Van Lingan was fatally shot, and his body was discovered and identified by members at 9:20 am in the Vaal Rand Area. All concerned parties were informed.
Investigative teams analysed the evidence from the crime scene and gathered intelligence, leading them to the first suspect, 36-year-old XXX. He admitted involvement and mentioned a second suspect, known as Siswe.
Acting on this intelligence, the team went to an address in Tembisa identified by XXX. Upon searching the residence, they apprehended Mr. Mandla Sizwe Nkosi, with the ID number XXX, living at XXX, Tembisa. A Vektor firearm with a magazine and live ammunition was recovered at the scene, along with three police reflective jackets, a police cap, and seven live rounds found in a drawer. The firearm is believed to be the weapon that was used the murder. Two vehicles were also seized: a blue Ford EcoSport without registration or license disc and a white Ford Figo with the registration number XXX. Key stakeholders were called to the scene.
Further inquiries and investigative efforts led the team to a suspect named XXX, identified by the ID number XXX, on February 22, 2024. He was arrested at his Marlboro home, for links to to the suspects and for his involvement in the kidnapping and murder.
A total of R350,000, connected to the deceased victim and the suspects, has been traced and the team is currently following the legal process recover this amount.
On February 23, 2024, following Mr. XXX’s arrest, the team gathered additional intelligence previous arrest sites. This information directed the team to the Capital Hotel in Sandton, where Mr. XXX, a Zambian national, was arrested. He was charged related to his involvement in the case. In his hotel room items were seized for further investigations.

The investigation is continuing and further arrests are expected.
